The MPTV Friends, Inc. has been raising funds for quality public television
programs in southeastern Wisconsin for 39 years. Our partners in this enterprise
are individuals-just like you-who support their favorite programs through a
membership with the Friends; corporations and foundations that underwrite
programming costs; special events that connect us with our communities; the
Great TV Auction-the first home shopping network; and thousands of volunteers
who help the Friends in a variety of ways.
As you navigate this site for additional information about the Friends,
remember that each individual's support of the Friends does make a difference in
the programs we all enjoy on Milwaukee Public Television.
Our History In
1967, the Channel 10/36 Friends, Inc. was organized to serve as the
fundraising and volunteer arm of the public television stations,
Channels 10 and 36. The Friends' first undertaking was to plan and
execute the first televised auction, which raised $67,000. Since that
time, activities of the Friends staff and volunteers have expanded to
include membership solicitation, program underwriting, special events
and use of volunteers in outreach programs.
Our Mission The purpose of
the MPTV Friends, Inc. is to promote quality public television serving
the needs of a broad cross section of the community in southeastern
Wisconsin. |
